Types of parties

Ava offers several different types of parties and caters to the crowd:

1. Young children's party (5 years old and under):

Traditional face painting (and sometimes using stencils) works best for children under the age of 5 who are sometimes afraid of the airbrush machine's noise and pressure release. Glitter, and gems are often used, and the longer a child is able to sit the more she is able to do design wise*.

She also can bring temporary tattoos of all kinds for children who are more interested in traditional water applied temporary tattoos than face painting.

(*As a rule of thumb, Ava only works on children who are willing to sit in the chair and participate in the process. Parents holding down their children as they struggle and forcing them to get painted often brings a negative connotation to her work and ruins the event for more willing participants. For this reason, children aged 1 and under are often not able to participate in face painting events even with their parents being present.)

2. Mixed family "Combination" party (all ages):

Mixed events are more interesting for everyone involved when they involve a combination of both traditional face painting and airbrush artwork. The airbrush technique moves along a lot more quickly if lines of people form, and is more appealing to an older crowd of kids and adults.

Typically with mixed parties, Ava will offer to airbrush people first to get thru a line (if there is one), and then will go back and offer traditional face painting for those who were not interested in (or afraid of) the airbrush painting technique.

3. Airbrush "Tattoo" events: (teenagers and up):

For those who are interested in temporary airbrush tattoos that look exceedingly realistic, airbrush "tattoo" events are often the most popular.*

The only airbrush paint we use is called "pro air ink" made exclusively for face and body painting (is skin safe!). It can typically be more quickly removed with makeup remover although it is formulated to last 3-10 days depending on how it is maintained and individual skin type.

Our Regular face paint is also skin safe, and comes off much more easily than the airbrush paint does.

All events with airbrush body art require a standard outlet/ electrical source to be used (extension cords are something we keep on hand!), but it is important to note that the air compressor machine used will sometimes trip breakers if too many other people are on the same circuit sharing electricity.
